I am NOT pathetic!!

Ok, so I have not yet been with my company for 90 days, so I don't get any vacation or holidays yet. Hence, I am working on Thanksgiving. This is not such a bad thing, since I will be the only one in the office and can basically do whatever the hell I want. I plan on spending the day sorting through files, catching up on emails, and playing games. This will also be the 4th Thanksgiving in a row by myself. Not a big deal- my family lives five and a half hours away in Pennsylvania, and my mom and I both usually have to work on Friday, so it's not really worth the trip just for one day.
With that said, I am getting really tired of the sympathetic looks from my co-workers when I tell them that I'm working. All of them look at me like, "aww, poor thing. She has no one to spend Thanksgiving with." Then they proceed to invite me to their dinner. I then have to explain the whole scenario above, to which they say, "I would just take the day off anyways." Now, they are all either married (dual incomes), or obviously making a lot more money than me, because I can't afford to take an unpaid day off work. Not only that, but I would actually have to take 2 days off, since I sure as hell am not driving 5 1/2 hours for dinner, then turning around and driving 5 1/2 hours back.
So do me a favor, peeps. Next time one of your co-workers is working during a holiday, please don't give them that "I feel so sorry for you" look. They may just have a valid reason.
